I don't expect anyone to, just like nobody could have funded the internet. I described a funding model in my AGI proposal at http://www.mattmahoney.net/agi2.html

Whether or not my proposed protocol is adopted, AGI will emerge from a lot of relatively dumb specialists (narrow AI) and an infrastructure for getting natural language messages to the right experts. This will happen because people have an incentive to publish information about themselves and will trade computing resources to achieve this goal.
