I think the real question is, not "Why should I invest in artificial
intelligence?", but, "Why should I invest in company X or researcher Y?"
It's pretty easy to argue the economic benefits of having a blueprint for a
tireless, obedient, IQ-100 (or much greater) brain-in-a-box. The question is
whether anyone can convince an investor that their group is capable of
making such a thing.
