In the 2000s the transition to non-carbon-based
energy sources becomes a trend.
So far this decade, wind turbine and solar energy
installations have been running at 10GW/yr worldwide,
and they have been accelerating. It's not a huge
fraction relative to the 3,750GW of total world
electric capacity, but it's not insignificant,
either.
