In Live Journal (a blog site if you don't know) there is a community
called singularity_now that is watched by about 300 people.
The community is not very active, however today there was a post
about a conference on Shamanism, faith healers, "plant wisdom" etc.
I objected (my livejournal username is mathemajician) to this as
I felt that faith healing etc. have nothing to do with the singularity.
Indeed I think that the singularity is the antithesis of things like new
age faith healers.
To my surprise some people turned up to defend the idea that
faith healing is indeed relevant to the singularity. I had expected
the complete opposite reaction.
Is there really a sub-group within the singularitarians with this view?
