If we compare ourselves to the people of a few hundred years ago, the
people of our age collectively know more than they did. Many of the
"facts" that they believed have been updated over the years, and many
new facts have been added. So as a test case, if we wanted to determine
the collective volition of that population, would we update their set of
knowledge with the "facts" as they're known today? Does this
approximate the meaning of considering those people in terms of "knew
more"?
