SL4's first chat on Sat 5PM EST

The SL4 mailing list will hold its first chat on Saturday, February 9th,
at 5PM EST (2PM PST). To participate via Java applet, just point your
browser at:
 http://sysopmind.com/sl4chat/

Or at least, that's what I'd like to be able to say, but I can't get the
darned applet to work in either Netscape or IE. Maybe you'll have better
luck, or maybe I'll get it fixed before tomorrow.

To participate via a standard IRC client, connect to "extropy.org" on a
standard IRC port (for example, 6667), and join channel #sl4.

To participate through Java applet on ExI's pages, point your browser at
 http://www.extropy.org/bbs/
and pick one of the IRC applets shown there. Once you're in, type
 /join #sl4
since we aren't listed among the available chatrooms.

I hope this time is convenient for everyone... but if not, let me know
what times would work better for you, so I can take it into consideration
when scheduling the next chat. My current thought is that if this first
chat works out, we'll hold chats on a monthly basis, maybe the first
Saturday or second Sunday of each month. Of course, I suppose you could
just drop by any old time, but there'd be no guarantee you'd find anyone
else there.

I'm also inviting the folks from the Extropian list and WTA list to drop
by, although I'm asking them to drop by at 5:30PM rather than 5PM, so that
we get a few minutes to ourselves.

Thanks to the Extropy Institute for letting us use their IRC server!
