Because rule-based expert systems just don't work. They are remnants of
an age when computers were chipped from flint. Concepts are great big
huge objects, not LISP tokens. Thoughts are not if-then rules. Cognitive
processes are enormous mechanisms composed of dozens of interlocking
subsystems, not "inference engines" with the complexity of one subroutine
