Kip Werking has a nice paper on this:

although I think he overblows it somewhat - hedonic utilitarianism is
not the only ethical theory.

This is hardly specific to transhumanism - God's been dead over a
century. People adapt, sometimes painfully. I don't expect a long-term
problem.
