In addition, MNT is an enabling technology for every conventional and unconventional weapon your engineering imagination can dream. But as with FAI, MNT can be used to solve UFAI risks, albeit much more clumsily and with much less assurance of successful non-extinction application. I would think a MNT proponent with an awareness of MNT risks (which are mostly administrative and political in nature) would be an asset to humanity, all else equal. In the MNT scenarios where civilization prevails in the short-term, it is because multiple centres of MNT industrial capacity are not allowed to exist. It is entirely possible that the 1st MNT possessors might be aware of UFAI threats in the short-term, and the imperative need for FAI over longer time-scales.

Transhumanists pose an existential risk; they are likely to develop MNT,
which is an enabling technology for UFAI.
