AI Hardware improving

The last time I remember Ben discussing AI hardware he wasn't too
concerned that much more computing power was required above the Linux
clusters that he was using at that time.

What designers are doing now is clustering the processors on one
motherboard, then grouping the motherboards.

See:

and
<http://www.orionmulti.com/products/buy>

Their Linux desktop workstation has 12 processors on the motherboard
and will reach a peak performance of 36 GFlops (18 GFlops sustained)
for 10,000 USD.
Their Linux deskside workstation uses eight boards with twelve nodes
each and will peak at 300 GFlops (150 GFlops sustained) for under
100,000 USD.

There are other startups doing similar projects, but Orion seem to
actually have something available now. So for quite reasonable money,
you can now give each programmer their own personal Linux cluster.

Looking good. BillK
