Thanks for the link. This article goes into a lot more depth than the
BBC piece about the same research which I linked to a year ago (in
http://sl4.org/archive/0207/4671.html).
It answers one of the questions I had at the time -- namely, given
that the full range of "idiot savant" abilities appear to be inherent
capabilities of the brain, doesn't that whole range represent a valid
research target? Apparently, to Snyder it does, and this I applaud.
But my other question -- where is all the other research attempting to
duplicate savant abilities, by whatever method? -- alas, appears to
have the same answer: there doesn't appear to be any.
