I have recently found the following fascinating news in the
german c't magazine:
http://www.heise.de/newsticker/data/ciw-17.10.02-000/
I googled for an English equivalent, but I have not found any.
They write that the memory manufacturer Micron gets into
the microprocessor business and plans to release a
processor with 256 small 8-bit cores centered around
an ultra fast memory block. They also provide a C++
compiler for it.
Of course it could turn out to be a flop, but the direction is
very promising.
Regards, Christian
