When you say "math skills", do you mean lightning fast calculation a la
"Rain Man"? Most people who do work in mathematics would not describe that
as mathematical skills, since it is a rather mechanical task and does not
require much creativity/intelligence. Skills in higher math is mostly about
proving theorems and solving problems. I don't think there have been a case
of savants being able to prove theorems.
It is however interesting to think about how such abilities could be used
together with a more organized/non-autistic mind...
